Watkins Glen, NY- This past weekend at the iconic Watkins Glen International, Dexter Czuba, Josh Green, and Ayrton Ori took part in rounds four, five, and six of the Formula Race Promotions F1600 Championship Series. The trio battled weather adversity for most of the weekend but ultimately persevered in true Pelfrey Power fashion!
Friday morning testing was met with cold temperatures and rain as the Pelfrey 1600 Pilots rolled onto the track. By Saturday, the conditions had improved as Czuba, Green, and Ori all took advantage of the sunshine and cool temperatures for their qualifying session which resulted in a 2nd (Green), 3rd (Czuba), and 7th (Ori) place starting position for Race One. Ori, who had missed the last two sessions on Friday because of an on-track incident, showed resilience as he was able to quickly learn and navigate the unforgiving and challenging circuit. Race One concluded with Green securing a spot on the podium (3rd) and Czuba and Ori finishing 4th and 6th respectively.
Rain once again plagued the rolling hills of The Glen on Sunday morning. Green was persistent and focused as he achieved the fastest race lap which awarded him the Pole Position for the afternoon finale and earned him a 2nd Place finish in Race Two. Czuba’s consistence, patience, and determination were rewarded with a 3rd Place finish in Race Two as well.
The Sunday finale was also afflicted with cold and rain, but it did not affect the Pelfrey Trio as they powered through each turn, improving with every lap. Ayrton Ori progressed through the field, collecting 4th Place, his best finish of the weekend. Czuba also had a solid run earning an additional 3rd Place finish. Josh Green’s continuing relentlessness was rewarded with not only the fastest race lap, but also the highest honor, a 1st Place finish. Green’s win in Race Three marked Team Pelfrey’s 100th win in team history.

Dexter Czuba #81 “I thoroughly enjoyed racing for Team Pelfrey this weekend! They helped me develop both me and my car into a front running contender, and as a result I was able to give the team two 3rd place finishes and one 4th place as well. This combined with my teammates’ results have made this a great weekend for up. The team has helped me get to the front, and with this momentum I hope to get a win next time at Mid-Ohio.”
Josh Green #80 "This weekend was great considering the conditions in testing, the accident in race 1, and the conditions in races 2 and 3. The results showed our ability to run up front and lead races in any condition throughout all adversities. Team Pelfrey set the car up for success in every session, and it showed in our pace (fast lap in races 2 and 3 and leading half the race in 1). It was an extremely progressive weekend, and I would love to thank Dufour Aerospace, Sabelt, Stilo, Team Pelfrey, and my parents for the massive support so far this season! Can’t wait for what’s to come!"
Ayrton Ori #27 “Very exciting weekend. We were headed for a podium in race #1 until the two cars in front came together at the bus stop on the last lap and I had to take avoiding action which cost several places. It’s unfortunate that this keeps happening because it’s costing me and the team podium finishes that really represent what we can do, but we did have a little better luck in race #3. It was super wet and cold and at the start I got held up for a few corners before overtaking my way up to 4th. That was all the leaders needed to draft a gap but we did manage a solid finish of first, third and fourth for Team Pelfrey."
