Watkins Glen, NY—Yellow dominated the Formula F field at Watkins Glen International this past weekend. Designated the “wave of yellow” by the announcers, drivers Dexter Czuba, Josh Green, and Tyler O’Connor monopolized the entirety of the doubleheader with a dramatic performance.
The chemistry between drivers on track was extraordinary. All eyes were on the Pelfrey-Powered machines as they drafted past each other, changing the lead essentially every lap. Tyler O’Connor took advantage of that draft and broke former Team Pelfrey Driver John Kotyk’s track record in both races! Team Pelfrey occupied all three steps of the podium, as well as the pole position, in both events.
The week Team Pelfrey will travel to Mid Ohio Sports Car Course for rounds 7, 8, and 9 of the Formula Race Promotions F1600 Championship. Dexter Czuba: “This weekend was really enjoyable for me. I was able to race hard with my teammates, had a chance to lead both races, and helped give Team Pelfrey a double podium sweep. Of course, I’m still looking for a bit more, as both of my finishes were 3rds. Hopefully, I can give myself and Team Pelfrey a win next week at Mid-Ohio!”
Josh Green: "It was an amazing weekend at WGI, the team (as usual) brought three cars that were capable of winning races and every race went down to the last lap. I learned tons from being able to race with two experienced drivers like Dexter and Tyler, as well as that, every race was super exciting and fun to drive in! All 3 cars were within half a second at the line in every race. I have to say a massive thank you to Team Pelfrey, my parents, and Dufour aerospace for making this weekend happen."
Tyler O’Connor: "This past weekend was one of the most enjoyable events of my career. I had an absolute blast working with Dexter and Josh both on and off the track. Our hard work produced a dominating performance in both races; with podium sweeps and last laps that came down to the wire between all three cars. Thank you to everyone at Team Pelfrey, and wishing the best of luck during the summer stretch of the FRP F1600 Championship!
