Tampa, Florida- Team Pelfrey 1600 will enter the 2020 race season at Homestead Miami Speedway January 2nd-5th. After an extremely busy off season, the team has restructured its program to encompass the Formula Race Promotions F1600 Series, several SCCA Majors events, and a number of Canadian races, including the Grand Prix du Canada.
Competing for the team in the opening weekend will be Steve Jenks and David Adorno. Both men are eager to join the team for the maiden weekend of 2020 and enthusiastic about a new and different challenge!
“We are looking forward to starting the season at Homestead,” said Team Principal, Geoff Bushor. “We are excited for the new opportunities that this year has to offer. We’ve worked closely with our driver coaches and previous drivers to create a program to offer the best experience, on and off track.”
Steve Jenks has raced for over 15 years and was the 2018 FRP F2000 champion and the 2019 runner up. He also has finished on the podium at the runoffs in Formula Mazda. Steve won 2 Rotary Rockets championships in Formula Mazda and also enjoys competing in shifter kart races. He is from Castle Rock Colorado and is the Chief Marketing Officer of Empower Retirement. Steve races in honor of the Basset Hound who has underappreciated speed and agility.
David Adorno has always had a need for speed and racing. Growing up in New York City and Puerto Rico, he participated in equestrian sports for recreation and eventually competitively to bring home several wins in both English and Western class riding. Having established roots in Woodhaven,NY he sought to bring a more unified voice to his community and ran for the NYS Assembly. Leaving the political sphere, David focused his energies on starting his own small business 7 years ago, the DMVSTOP, a registration and titling service that has now grown to service all 50 states! Working in the automotive industry continued to fuel his passion for speed allowing him the ability to begin karting and ultimately completing the Bertil Roos and Skip Barber racing schools. David now SCCA licensed and is looking to pursue a career in professional racing!
